The Bright Futures Academy Girls’ Basketball team closed out their season Thursday in a 29-15 loss against Franklin Academy-Palm Beach Gardens. Sixth grader Gabi F. had 12 points in the game. Despite the Sharks’ record this season, Coach O’Rourke is extremely proud of his student-athletes and their tenacity.
The Boys’ Basketball team opened their season Friday with an overtime 35-31 win at home versus the Robots of Gardens School Of Technology Arts. Garret F. led the team in scoring, and Noam R.’s defense in the paint kept the Bots on the perimeter. Ethan K.’s defensive rebounds limited the Bots scoring opportunities. In the first half, Gabe K.’s play helped the Sharks leap out to an early lead. A controversial call with seconds left in the fourth quarter gave Tech the chance to tie up the game, but the Sharks defense solidified the win in the extra time.
The Sharks are in action again Monday in an away game against Benjamin, at  Franklin-PBG on Thursday, and then at home on Friday against Jupiter Christian.
