Greek vase designs
Middle school art history students have been studying the periods of Greek Art, from the Geometric style patterns on pottery to the dramatic and emotional sculptures of the Hellenistic Period. They learned about the Red-figure and Black-figure techniques and types of imagery that occurred on up to as many as 20 different varieties of Greek vase styles: each with its own function, each perfectly formed for its purpose and most of them were exquisitely decorated. Students selected a vase style and designed one figure to be represented on their Greek Vase, choosing from the pantheon of gods, goddesses and creatures of Greek myth. They created their images, inspired by the styles and patterns that still influence the Western world today.
