For 5th - 8th grade art students, our Black History month artist focus was on Faith Ringgold. She is an artist, teacher, author and illustrator famous for her story quilts. The story quilts that she created came from her own life experiences and inspirations. Students thought about good memories from their own lives to illustrate and represent in a visual narrative. We then combined our individual stories into a collaborative story quilt. We all have great stories to tell! Remember that even simple things in your life can be important!
