Read Across America Month

March 19, 2016

As part of Read across America month, Ms. Steier’s Language Arts classes have been researching their families’ histories - as increasing numbers of Americans were born in other nations, speak different languages, and carry different cultural traditions. To better understand and embrace the changing demographics of our nation, the students created and displayed flags showcasing their different backgrounds; they also created their own flag, as a composite of these different nationalities. The students proudly displayed their flags and shared facts about their cultures that most resonated with them in efforts to demonstrate that we’re all a product of many different nations and cultures and to better appreciate, embrace, and respect this diversity.
