Earth Week - Meatless Monday
Meatless Monday is an international movement to help people to reduce their meat consumption to improve personal health and the health of the planet. Going meatless one day a week can reduce your risk of chronic preventable conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity. It also saves precious resources like fresh water and fossils fuels and helps to limit your carbon footprint. Did you know it takes an estimated 1,800 to 2,500 gallons of water to go into a single pound of beef?
Meatless Monday programs have popped up around the globe – over a dozen countries have taken on the campaign in order to raise awareness about the health and environmental impact of excessive meat consumption. Please check out meatlessmonday.com or meatfreemondays.com for more information.
