"To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow". Audrey Hepburn
It is a daunting task to get the EDU-Garden® ready for our fall growing season! It is so very hot as we all know, and we have had little rain, so it is remarkable to see our cover crop growing to almost 7 feet tall. As we begin to clear each field, the chickens come running to help till the soil and offer us a chance to laugh. They compete for the worms and critters that they unearth with their rhythmic scratching and kicking, soil flying out behind them and we are reminded that chickens just "make" a garden. The kids are excited to be back in the garden and we do plan for tomorrow.
"What can we plant here?”
“What is your favorite vegetable?”
“Will we cook this year?”
“Can we build a scarecrow?”
“Don't we need more rain barrels, more container boxes?”
“I think we need a prettier fence with more sunflowers".
On and on the questions come and our plans are made, and once again the EDU-Garden® transformation begins....Tomorrow!
