Notan art work

The 7th and 8th grade art students began a "Holidays Around the World" art project before the break. Each student chose a different holiday to research and from their research they came up with symbols to represent the holiday. The project shown is called a Notan - it is a Japanese art form which highlights the use of light and dark in an artwork. We learned about positive and negative space to help us along with this project. Students will also be writing a short report and illustrating a page meant to help inform younger students of the holiday they chose.
