Literacy Week Events

As part of Florida's Celebrate Literacy Week 2017, we had guest readers all week. Today was a special one, as former Major League pitcher and All-Star Kent Bottenfield visited the Riverside Campus and read to some of Mr. Kunz's students. Mr. Bottenfield was drafted in the 4th round of the 1986 draft by the Montreal Expos, and spent much of his career as a starting pitcher for many teams. He spent two years with the St. Louis Cardinals, including a 18-7 season, which earned him a trip to the All-Star Game that year. He also notched a complete game shutout of the Cardinals while starting for the Phillies in 2000. Mr. Bottenfield is currently the head baseball coach for the Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish.

Meanwhile, at the Lighthouse Campus, Mrs. Colloca read to the students from the roof!

We hope everyone enjoyed this week's activities, which included a visit from the Kona Ice Truck.
