6th Grade Everglades Adventure!
On February 23rd, the sixth graders ventured to the Everglades Youth Conservation Camp for a day of ecosystem exploration. The sixth graders hiked through three distinct ecosystems, including the pine flatwood, cypress swamp, and hardwood hammock. As they explored each environment, they used the provided tools and their scientific skills to take samples and notes about their surroundings. The students were able to read the air and soil temperature, wind speed, soil composition, biotic and abiotic factors, and many other things in each ecosystem. One group even spotted an alligator! Overall, both groups did a nice job working together to be scientists of the Everglades!
