On Tuesday, the fifth graders took a field trip to Mounts Botanical Garden. Upon arriving, they listened to a short presentation about different types of plants and trees that can be found on the grounds. The fifth graders showed off their knowledge by answering many of the questions correctly. After the presentation, they broke off into groups to explore the beautiful landscape and discovered many new, interesting plants. Some of the highlights included: the Rainbow Eucalyptus (a tree with rainbow colored bark), a Royal Poinciana, a Teddy Bear Palm, and an Elephant Foot Tree. The students made sure to stop by the butterfly garden as well. The tour guides complemented them on their ability to ask interesting, challenging questions. After the tour was over, the students ate lunch in a comfortable outdoor setting before returning to school.
