Come celebrate Earth Day with us as we transform the EDU-Garden into an eclectic display of activities!
Starting at 10 AM, you are invited to visit our rabbits, chickens and take home a U-Pick-It harvest! At 10:30, Ms. Pat and Mrs. Slone will show you how to refinish and decoupage old furniture, turning old pieces of furniture into new works of art!
Did you know that BFA has an apiary? For the first time, the Rusty Patch Bumble Bee is on the endangered species list. Bees and other pollinators are essential to life on earth, come learn how you can help!
Kids can listen to stories about pollinators and make a fun butterfly craft and use one of our pollinator identifiers to take an on-going garden tour.
We will also be talking about "Citizen Science." Citizen Science is the collection of information by the general public in collaboration with the scientific community. The idea being, that the more “scientists” that are actively recording data, the more comprehensive our understanding will become! Join our garden team and student ambassadors in a discussion about citizen science and learn to make an observation journal and a recycled “sit upon” used for observing nature!
And of course it wouldn't be an EDU-Garden Day without a family meal!
We are planning to serve a delicious lunch at 12:30! Come enjoy a low country boil of shrimp, sausage and veggies (vegetarian option available). Costco pizza and cake will also be provided by Bright Futures Academy! Thanks to Whole Foods for providing their beautiful rainbow salad!!
