Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. There are fun activities surrounding the book fair like a guessing jar and dress-down day. Your children will have an opportunity to visit the book fair during school hours the week of Jan. 28.
Payment can be in the form of cash, a check, or a new option this year which is the Book Fair eWallet, which provides you with an opportunity to load funds for your child to spend at the Book Fair. Please see the book fair home page for more information on the eWallet payment option and details on how it works.
We also wanted to provide some information on the All For Books Dollar Drive that we conduct the week before every book fair. This dollar drive is important because each donation essentially serves a three-fold purpose (and provides 3x the value):
First, the money collected from the dollar drive contributes to the overall fair sales which in turn impacts the profit/rewards the school receives from the book fair
Second, Scholastic allows us to pull books from the book fair to match the monetary value collected as part of the Dollar Drive. In other words, these are “free” books for the school and this is how we replenish classroom libraries
Third, Scholastic makes a charitable donation of books to match what we collect to an organization such as the Kids in Need Foundation.
The classroom that collects the most money will earn a pizza or donut classroom party! The Dollar Drive will be the week of Jan. 22.
We are also very excited about a Family Event that will be a part of the Book Fair this year. We will host our own “Dinosaur Stomp” in the form of the BAK Star Steppers who are coming to the school! This step team regularly competes at the national level and has agreed to do a performance at BFA! It will be a special event and the book fair will be open before and after the show for shopping. Light refreshments will be served. The Family Event will be held Friday, Feb. 1 from 6:00 until 8:30.
We are also looking for book fair volunteers! If you are able to help, please sign-up through the SignUp Genius that has been sent through JupiterEd or contact Sara Uppena at 561.670.6875. High schoolers may volunteer at the Family Event for community service hours.
If you are unable to attend the Fair in person, we invite you to visit our online Book Fair at scholastic.com/fair (and search for Bright Futures Academy) or via direct home page link. The online fair is also a great way for relatives who live out of town to contribute. All books are shipped to the school for free.
